Our Preschool program is for children age 4 preparing for Kindergarten.
Students attend a full, five day
program. Three days are available upon request.
The Preschool program at Children's Hours
offers a quality first learning experience outside the home. It
recognizes the need for children to develop simultaneously in disparate but
inter-related areas, such as:
- Small Motor Skills (puzzles, games,
cutting, pasting, etc.)
- Gross Motor Skills (use of equipment
for climbing, rocking, creative movement, etc.)
- Auditory Skills (music, stories,
singing, listening games, etc.)
- Visual Perception (matching,
tracing, drawing, painting, etc.)
- Social Skills (free play, show &
tell, drama, etc.)
Preschoolers also follow a reading
readiness program which lays much stress on auditory discrimination and
exposure to young children's literature. Number awareness is
encouraged by counting with objects, number games and familiarity with
simple geometric shapes.
Topics of interest may include:
nutrition and health, animal homes and the environment, social insects, seed dispersal/planting
and the solar system.
